CORWOOD AND BIOZONE LAUNCH QUSOMES® THROUGH STRATEGIC ALLIANCE

Hauppauge, New York, April 11, 2006 – Vincent Penna, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Corwood Laboratories, announced that in conjunction with BioZone Laboratories, they are now offering QuSomes®, a new, patented, state-of-the-art, next generation delivery system for cosmetic and personal care products that has been proven to outperform liposomes in the marketplace.

“QuSomes (INCI names PEG-12 Glyceryl Distearate and PEG-12 Glyceryl Dioleate) are the next generation of nanotechnology, and are destined to make their mark in our industry among cosmetic and personal care manufacturers. Clearly, our joint venture with BioZone Laboratories is not only a major step for our two companies, but signals an important industry event,” Mr. Penna stated.

Through extensive in vitro and clinical testing, QuSomes exceed liposomes when it comes to performance and efficacy in breakthrough skin care products. Mr. Penna said, “Up until now, liposomes have been the standard in the research and development of skin care and cosmetic products. In clinical testing, QuSomes consistently demonstrate that they enhance the skin permeation of ingredients, allowing the ingredient to stay in the skin longer and improve the product’s performance when compared to formulations that incorporate liposomes. Additionally, QuSomes have been featured in a number of consumer products, and are proven to overcome the limitations of traditional liposomes. They offer enormous advantages for the manufacturers of skin care products as well as noticeable benefits for consumers who are constantly seeking long lasting improvement in their appearance.”

The breakthrough is so significant that the latest edition of Handbook of Cosmetic Science and Technology has dedicated an entire chapter to QuSomes written by Brian Keller, Ph. D. and Co-Founder of BioZone Laboratories.

Dr. Keller commented, “QuSomes represent a technological advance that the industry is truly looking for. He added, “BioZone’s legacy of breakthrough innovations, chemical processes, research and development as well as overall technical and manufacturing ability perfectly complement Corwood’s substantial strengths in the personal care and cosmetics industries.”

Corwood and BioZone were enthusiastic in reporting the launch of this breakthrough technology and emphasized that their strategic alliance is a mutually beneficial venture. The two companies have established a “blue sky” research and development team, known as the Advanced Concepts and Products (ACAP) Team, whose goal is to discover and apply new technologies to the cosmetic, personal care and pharmaceutical industries. Because each side brings different capabilities, they jointly provide the technical and marketing expertise that is needed to dominate the highly competitive skin care and cosmetics market.

Mr. Penna pointed out Corwood’s long-standing dedication and reinvestment of its assets has been key to its substantial growth. “Corwood has invested more than $20 million in manufacturing capabilities. We’ve also built a reputation for personal service, flexibility, and attention to detail. The personal commitment and customer relationships forged by our President and CEO, Irwin Thaler, and cultivated by our staff are exemplary assets – virtually priceless in today’s competitive environment.”
